The coffee house has to move, again. For the third time in two years, the student run theme house known as Java, will have to relocate its live music venue, currently held in the old health center.

“I’m as close as I can to being certain that the school will push Java’s venue to the unnamed cinder block building between Brown and Lee Halls,” Tom Greene, Coordinator of User Facilities Planning and Chair of St. Lawrence’s Psychology Department, said. Greene assists the communication between the design team, the users and the university during planning.

University administrators and student representatives are drafting new and tighter regulations for townhouse parties as a result of an October 4 event that led to eight first-years being treated for alcohol poisoning.
In the meantime, the townhouses' privileges to hold registered parties has been temporarily revoked, and although they still have self-governing powers, they will have to wait until a final decision to host such social events. The university alcohol policy committee and the townhouse council plan to meet, but as of press time no date had been set.
