SLU Democrats Yearly Campaigns

Democracy Bonds: Democracy bonds are pledges made to donate a set amount to the Democratic Party each month. They serve three purposes:

• Reform the political process by building a political party beholden only to the people, not the special interests
• Build the Democratic Party from the ground up in every precinct so that we can compete everywhere
• Win elections in every state and territory of the United States, at every level of office

SLU Democrats will be pledging a minimum of $30.00 per month.

Phone Cards for Soldiers in Iraq: As it stands now, every time a U.S. soldier wants to call home from Iraq, it comes out of their paycheck. The SLU Democrats rose over $400 last semester for a program to give phone cards for our men and women in Iraq. Our goal this year is to raise $1000, through a variety of fundraisers.

Campaigns: When the campaign season starts heating up next semester, the SLU Democrats will be there. We'll be working mostly at the local level, as well as helping Hillary Clinton in her bid for a second term.

Conferences: SLU Democrats hopes to travel to at least one major Democratic conference this year. More information forthcoming.

Speaker: Like last year, SLU Democrats is going to try to bring a big name speaker to campus. We've had at least one inquiry so far. This will most likely happen second semester. More information forthcoming.
