Community Service

Community Service.

The Brothers of Alpha Tau Omega are committed to helping the campus and Canton communities, as well as raise money for important causes.  Each semester our chapter contributes hundreds of hour’s worth of community service; from helping to build houses with Habitat for Humanity, to organizing Red Cross blood drives with Alpha Phi Omega (a community service Fraternity), and to building winter wonderlands with the Outing Club for area kids.
We were excited to again host our annual haunted house and work with SLU Buddies to get area children to come and have a good time at our chapter house.  Also, Brothers started a fundraising campaign last semester to benefit Lungs for Life Foundation, and due to its success we plan to make this an annual effort.  We continue to participate in programs and events such as Adopt a Highway, Chi Omega and ATO “Teeter-Totter-A-Thon”, and volunteer at least once a month at free-will dinners at the Methodist Church in Canton.  We look forward to many more philanthropic activities and are excited for the dodge ball tournament we have organized to take place in April.
Most recently, we have undertaken a fundraising drive for the Adam Falcon Scholarship Fund.  We are raising cash for the scholarship fund via campus-wide parties and through a bottle drive competition; so far these efforts are proving to be very successful.

On Saturday March, 4, brothers Conrad Howe, Adam Ludemann, Alex Sheppard, Dominico Pirrotta, Jon Solomon, and Steve Gottlieb took the helm to organize and lead a midnight breakfast program that was available for all St. Lawrence Students. They were happy to take time out of their Saturday night to provide a service to the independent students of campus. That Saturday afternoon SLU students celebrated their annual Snowbowl Party, which was a tremendous success. That night the brothers thought it would be a great idea to put some scrambled eggs, french toast sticks, bacon, and toast into the stomaches to those that were drinking during the Snowbowl event. The event gave non-greek students a chance to see how Alpha Tau Omega is strong part of campus. In addition, it was another great example of ATO putting it name on campus in a positive light.
Brothers presenting a check to the Lungs for Life Foundation. This was the largest single donation ever received by Lungs for Life and it represents approximately 10 percent of all the money ever received by the foundation.  Due to the success of the fundraising effort, Alpha Tau Omega, in conjunction with Lungs for Life, plans to make the Cystic Fibrosis fundraising campaign an annual event.
